Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a tutor?

When you get in touch with us we make sure we have all the information we need to find the tutor best suited to you and your academic subject and needs.

How much does it cost?

Here at Tutor Alliance we will not charge you any placement fee. You will only pay for the tutoring you receive. Different tutors have different rates and usually there are different rates for undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels.
We are happy to discuss these with you and arrange a tutor to suit your budget.

Can I book online tutorials?

Absolutely. Whether you live away from London or just find online tutorials more convenient you can opt to have online tutorials. Most of our tutors are happy to provide online tutorials.

Can the tutor come to my house?

Some tutors are happy to tutor at the tutee's house. If this is an important requirement for you please let us know and we will find you a suitable tutor. Please note that if you live outside zones 1 and 2 the tutor may charge you for the travelling time. This will be decided on a case by case situation.

I never had a tutor before. How does it work?

It couldn't be simpler! Once you have been assigned a tutor they will get in touch with you. You two then organise when you have your first tutorial and how often you will meet. Tutorials can be face-to-face or online, or a mix of both, whatever is more convenient for you. You can have regular tutorials, for example weekly or fortnightly, or whenever you need one. Tutors are usually very flexible.

How often will I have tutorials?

This is entirely up to you to decide. You may want to meet your tutor regularly. Some of our students meet their tutors daily or weekly. Others meet them fortnightly or even less regularly than that. You need to discuss and agree this with your tutor.

Do you guarantee a good grade?

We always strive for you to have the best tutoring support for your needs and objectives. However we can never guarantee a grade. A student's grade is always their own responsibility.

How do I become a Tutor?

We welcome applications from prospective tutors. If you are interested in becoming a tutor with us please email us. Include information about your academic accreditations and, if the case, your teaching and tutoring experience. Upon reviewing your application you may be invited for an interview with us. If you are successful you will be included in our tutor database. You can see more information here
